Entertainment reporter Gretchen Fulido is the talk of the town right now after she filed a case against ABS-CBN Executives for alleged sexual harassment and libel. Included in this complaint are former ABS-CBN News executive Cheryl Favila and ABS-CBN News segment producer Maricar Asprec,  who allegedly sent Gretchen text messages with sexual innuendos.

Fullido also filed libel cases against two news executives of ABS-CBN, Cecilia Drilon and Venancio Borromeo, news reporter Marie Lozano, who allegedly “besmirched her reputation”

Days after the complaint was filed, ABS-CBN released a statement regarding the matter. It said:

ABS-CBN respects the right of news anchor and reporter Gretchen Marie Fullido to bring her sexual harassment complaint to the courts. Now that she has filed charges with the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, we expect all parties to allow the legal process to take its course.

ABS-CBN takes sexual harassment seriously and does not condone such acts in the workplace or by its employees.

When Ms. Fullido filed an administrative case against a supervising producer and a segment producer for alleged sexual harassment in November 2017, the company took prompt action on the administrative complaint and decided based on the evidence presented.

Meanwhile, the lawyer of ABS-CBN executives sent a statement to Rapper about the complaint. According to Evalyn Ursua said it was “unfortunate” that Fullido pursued a criminal complaint against her clients even after ABS-CBN dismissed the earlier complaint. According to the lawyer,  Fullido’s “baseless charge of sexual harassment” is a complex one, and involves “personal, professional, and political matters.”

Furthermore, Ursua said this complaint is an example of discrimination against LGBT. “The prevailing homophobia in society results in a stereotyped belief that women of same-sex sexual orientation indiscriminately go after any woman or are prone to sexually harass other women,”

One of the accused, Ces Drilon, also released her statement on Twitter.
