GMA Documentary Starring Alden Richards Wins At New York Festival

Pambansang Bae Alden Richards is beaming with joy and pride after the documentary Alaala: A Martial Law special which he starred on won a silver medal the prestigious New York Festivals DocuDrama category.

Directed by Adolf Alix Jr., Alaala tells the story of award-winning screenwriter Bonifacio Ilagan, and the torture he endured during the time of Martial Law, when human rights of Filipinos weren’t present.

Alden flew to Las Vegas, Nevada on April 7 for a short vacation and to attend the awarding ceremony. On his Instagram post, he congratulated the whole crew of the acclaimed documentary by GMA Public Affairs. “Thank you to the New York Festivals for this great recognition. 
Congratulations to Team Alaala for the win! To GOD be the glory,” he wrote.

Alaala was aired on September 18, 2017 to commemorate the 45th anniversary of former President and dictator Ferdinand Marcos’ declaration of Martial Law.
