Staying Power

Julie Anne, whose nickname is MyJaps, started out in showbiz as a child, joining a couple of variety show pageant contests and figuring in a television commercial. She joined the televised singing competition Popstar Kids in 2005 and everything took off since then. She was a young host and a member of the group Sugarpop. She soared higher as a solo artist, taking on roles for television and the movies. She has released three studio albums, with her self-titled debut album reaching Diamond status and her single I’ll Be There gaining quadruple platinum status. Despite being in showbiz for so long, Julie Anne is still raring to achieve more.

She says that it is important for an artist to be innovative. “I really want to make new stuff as much as possible talaga. Every now and then, palaging gusto ko may bago. You know naman how trends are diba? They come and go. So I can easily adapt to that. As much as I want na mag-innovate sa sarili ko, kailangan ko pa din i-consider ‘yung mga tao around me kung ano ba talaga ‘yung maganda or hindi.”
