RISKS AND REBIRTH

Making the switch from a high profile studio like ABS-CBN to an equally impressive network such as GMA is nothing to take lightly. After considering the many factors, a choice was made and Kyline went from Kapamilya to Kapuso. In this season of change and renewal, we discover the young actress’ mindset and find focus and determination. “I’m so happy because ito naman yung hinihintay ko,” she speaks of the work that leaves her breathless. “I can’t wait to see kung ano pa ang mangyayari sa future.”

Risks and reasons come hand in hand when it comes to making decisions. Was she not scared of the risk on career when moving from network to network? “It really was a big risk for me. Sobrang tagal ko doon. Seven years!” In Kyline’s case, the desire to delve within the depths of her talent had overcome any reason to stay. “Naisip ko na gusto kong mag explore sa craft ko.”

In the world of showbiz, celebrities often find themselves racing against a fast-paced clock. Not everyone is given a lifeline as long as Sharon Cuneta or Gary Valenciano. The icons are still there for a reason, one that we somehow see in Kyline Alcantara. As a fifteen year old, she’s already surpassed the dreams of people thrice her age, conquered not only ABS-CBN but also GMA Network, and all while planning for her sweet sixteen. With a million people fixated on this pretty-young-thing, one might be concerned to ask; how does she deal with it all? THE MANY FACES OF KAMBAL KARIBAL

Kyline plays the antagonist role of Cheska de Villa on the primetime teleserye Kambal Karibal. She’s not someone that people love, but someone you’d love to hate. Known across the nation as TV’s favorite kontrabida of the moment, she revels in a single word; infamous. How exactly did she build up all of this angst? “May nag advice sa akin na kailangan ko manuod ng mga videos of famous kontrabidas,” she explains of her inspirations, “so pinanood ko sila Gladys Reyes at Bella Flores.”

When dealing with the complexities of different personalities, whether due to bipolar disorder or a dramatic take on spiritual possession, the depth of a character is limited to a person’s talent. Responding to the challenges, Kyline admits to the struggle.

Aminado naman ako na nahihirapan ako,” however continues that the end result is always worth the work. “I like challenging roles para siyempre ma-test din ang versatility ko as an actress.”

THE CONCERT

On her sweet sixteen, a girl must always be treated as the center of attention, but rather than having a lavish party first, Kyline will be having a solo concert entitled ‘Take Flight’. So what can we expect? “A lot of singing and dance performances, at iba’t ibang genres ang mga kakantahin ko.” The mix is all about appealing to the audience, really. “Gusto ko siyang maging para sa millennials pero nakaka-relate din yung elderlies natin.

Longing to know what else would appear on her album, she simply said that she wants it diverse. What is her favorite genre? Even this, she doesn’t know completely. “Hindi kasi ako nag st-stick sa isang genre eh. I want to explore so I won’t stick to one.”

#CHUCKSFIRST

It’s this mindset of hers, to choose sneakers and fit a comfortable outfit around it, that makes her so very fitting to be a part of the Converse family as one of their latest brand ambassadors. She might be young alongside the likes of Kiana Valenciano, Lauren Reid, Jennica Sanchez, Miguel Tanfelix, Ryle Santiago, Markus Paterson, and Alex Diaz, but she certainly holds her own. This campaign held a type of meaning for the actress. Converse being loved by Kyline and her grandparents, it really left an impact on her to find out about it. “It’s such a big thing for me, sobrang laki ng impact niya!”
