MayWard for Inside Showbiz Weekly

  • November 22, 2017

They have yet to acquire industry experience, but Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber are not lacking in charm, personality, and star quality

Two words are enough to make Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber gasp with glee, jump with joy, and perform happy dances. “It’s confirmed,” yells the MayWard love team several times in varying tones. They utter the short sentence with shock, disbelief, excitement, and elation. All these are shown in the video reveal of MEGA magazine for next year’s Making MEGA series.

The selection of Maymay and Edward, along with fellow Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Lucky Season 7 alums Kisses Delavin and Marco Gallo, was made known with a celebratory mode. The festive mood matched the youth and vibrance of the upcoming cover stars for the special overseas series created by MEGA since 2013.

“My god! Sobrang saya.  As in, sobra! Grabe na, todo na talaga ito,” Maymay exclaims to Inside Showbiz Weekly. Edward says he has noticed hints regarding his upcoming magazine stint from his dad, manager, and some MEGA executives whom he met at events. “But I was really not sure there was a confirmed MEGA shoot. It’s like a trail of breadcrumbs along the way. I was really excited all the way through.”

Maymay echoes Edward’s excitement, “Ang suwerte ko dahil mararanasan ko pa pumunta sa ibang bansa kaya sobra ‘yung saya ko.” Their fans rejoiced upon the announcement. However, a few eyebrows were raised for how can showbiz newbies like MayWard be included in the elite roster of Making MEGA cover stars?

Nowhere near their idols

The primary reason for their shock and disbelief about their big MEGA break was the fact that not everyone is given the chance to become a torchbearer of MEGA’s annual out of the country photo shoot. It seems like it is too much and too soon for the 20-year-old Maymay and 17-year-old Edward.

They have only debuted on PBB in August 2016, yet they are set to be the next Making MEGA stars just like Anne Curtis, Maja Salvador, Erich Gonzales, Kathryn Bernardo, Julia Barretto, Vice Ganda, James Reid, Nadine Lustre, Alden Richards, Maine Mendoza, Daniel Padilla, McCoy de Leon, Elisse Joson, Gabbi Garcia, Janella Salvador, and John Lloyd Cruz.
