Nadine Lustre won the coveted Best Actress in a Leading Role award last night at the 67th FAMAS Awards last night for her performance as Joanne in Never Not Love You last year besting 9 other actresses. During her acceptance speech, Nadine opened up about the hard and dark times that she went through during the filming of the movie which she endured and eventually surfaced through.
An emotional yet proud Nadine Lustre faced the FAMAS awards audience at the Meralco Theater last night as she accepted her Best Actress in a Leading Role Award. “FAMAS, maraming maraming salamat po. Gusto ko lang po ikuwento sa inyo ang naging experience ko dito sa Never Not Love You, October 2017 po kasi mayroong isang malaking bagyo na dumaan sa buhay ko,” shared Nadine.
It would be recalled that Nadine’s late brother, Isaiah, took his own life during that time.
“Sobrang malaking damage din po ‘yung ginawa nito sa akin. So a few months po bago po namin simulan ang Never Not Love You palagi ko pong iniisip kung itutuloy ko pa, kasi nararamdaman ko na baka ma-disappoint ko lang sina direk Tonet (Jadaone) at Boss Vic (del Rosario).”
During the time that Nadine was grieving her brother’s death, she kept her composure and steered clear from the prying eyes of the press and the media. It was during this difficult period in Nadine’s life that she also found the strength to speak up for her followers who have been dealing with depression and anxiety at the time.
“Ilang beses ko na din po gustong umatras. Kahit po na andoon po ako sa lowest point ko, naitawid ko po ‘yung pelikula with flying colors, kaya maraming salamat po sa aming mga supporters,” shared Nadine.
Aside from everyone involved in the film, the prime actress also, of course, thanked her boyfriend James Reid for the unwavering support that he has been giving her, “Sa lahat po ng bumubuo ng Never Not Love You and of course kay James, na lagi akong pinu-push na to be my very best, and sinisiguro po niya na naalala ko [na] I am bigger and stronger than any storm that comes my way,”
