It’s no secret that Filipinos are big fans of the entertainment industry. Admit it or not, we all grew up watching teleseryes and news programs that include the latest happenings on our favorite celebrities. With a large number of big celebrities and showbiz hopefuls here in the country, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and see past the names we should be watching and looking out for.
So in an effort to highlight the best of Philippine Showbiz, we at Inside Showbiz decided to launch the first ever Inside Showbiz Awards. From November 6 to December 19, fans and showbiz enthusiasts poured all their effort in voting for their favorites for different awards for categories Film, Television, Music, and Social Media.
To celebrate the results of the voting, Inside Showbiz mounted its first ever Appreciation Party at Churchill Bistro in Estancia on March 3.
From awardees and nominees to our close celebrity friends, the best of Philippine showbiz gathered for a night of celebrating the successes of the past year.
With music by DJ Max Berardi, our favorite celebrities partied the night away and even stayed past midnight!
James Reid and Nadine Lustre collectively bagged the most accolades that night as a love team and as individuals. James won Favorite Movie Actor, Favorite Song (Right There), and Favorite Music Video (The Life), while Nadine won Favorite Movie Actress, and accepted the awards for Favorite Movie (Never Not Love You), and Favorite Soundtrack (Prom, Never Not Love You).
Vivoree Esclito and Charles Kieron (KierVi) accepted Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla’s (KathNiel) awards for Favorite Movie Actress and Actor. When asked if they dream to be as big as KathNiel, Vivoree answers, “Siyempre! Sino ba namang hindi gusto yung ganon ka-big yung love team, diba? And I really look up to the both of them kasi grabe yung dedication nila sa work nila.” CK was quick to add, “Yung success nila sa work yung insipirasyon naming dalawa sa mga ginagawa namin ngayon.”
Winning the Favorite Music Label award is a milestone for Careless Music Manila as this is their first time to win in the said category in any award giving body.
Despite his busy schedule, Alden Richards graced us with his presence last Sunday as he accepted his award for Favorite Showbiz Personality and the Favorite Variety Show award for Sunday Pinasaya.
During the party’s socials, Alden was spotted having a serious conversation with MEGA Magazine Publisher, Archie Carrasco. Alden’s last appearance on the Philippine’s Best Fashion Magazine was back in 2017 for his cover with Maine Mendoza for the #MEGANationInMorocco cover. The two parted ways smiling after firmly shaking each other’s hands. Does this mean that another Making MEGA is in the works for Alden Richards?
Kisses Delavin arrived solo last Sunday as her love team partner Donny Pangilinan could not attend due to prior commitments. Although arriving unaccompanied by Donny, the showbiz darling was still full of her usual sparkle and energy as she accepted the award for DonKiss as the Favorite TV Love Team. Kisses confessed to having no sleep the night before as she came straight from Iloilo to be at the Inside Showbiz Appreciation Night. “I came from Iloilo! Sobrang puyat ako pero upon knowing na nanalo sabi ko, ‘I need to come here!’ Kasi pinaghirapan ‘to ng supporters namin,” shared Kisses.
A lively Darren Espanto arrived at Churchill Bistro last Sunday despite coming straight from Davao fresh from his Aces concert with Jona and Lani Misalucha. Darren won Favorite Male Artist and couldn’t be more happy with the achievement which he shared with his supporters. “Thank you so much to all the Darrenatics! Maraming salamat po for voting for me at this year’s Inside Showbiz Awards! I love you guys so much and I couldn’t have done it without you!”
Ken Chan definitely wowed audiences with his performance as Boyet Villaroman in GMA-7’s My Special Tatay. The way that Ken portrayed the sensitive role of Boyet earned him praises from critics and is the reason why he won the Breakthrough Performance Award. Ken opened up about the many things that he has learned from his role and shared that what stuck with him the most is that all that anyone who has autism wants is love and respect.
With over almost three years in the industry, BoybandPH still proves to be a force to be reckoned with. No group has yet come close to outshine these crooners and it looks like they are determined to stay at the top spot.
When asked about the most important lessons they have learned over the time that they have spent together as a group, they collectively shared, “Patience, hard work, being responsible, and team work.” Tristan was quick to add, “Sabi nga ni Joao, ‘Teamwork makes the dream work!'”
